The Heart of Wood is dedicated to the love of Wood and our joy of working with it. We produce items for what we hope, will be enjoyed for many years to come. Louise Hutton and Phil Hutton have various interests and produce a wide diversity of pieces from Woodturning and Wooden Toys to Native American Flutes and Wooden Samurai Swords. The Heart of Wood is our own showcase for these items and as and when they are made, they will be put on the site soon after.
Phil Hutton makes Native American Flutes using both traditional and modern methods producing items beautiful and melodic. Playing the Native American Flute is easy as it is difficult to make a mistake with Native American Flute music, if you like what you play it's right. The hard part is remembering how to play the same piece of music twice! Phil Hutton also makes copies of Samurai Swords although these take a great deal of time and so produces only a few a year. Generally modelled on 15th and 16th century Samurai Swords of note using just wood.
Louise Hutton is a Woodturning demonstrator who has built up quite a following in the last 7 years. Sponsored by MAC Timber she turns at their open days 4-5 times a year. Her Woodturning usually produces rather fine and unusual pieces from large individual pieces to the thinnest most delicate Goblets. Not one for what is called technical Woodturning she prefers to look on her pieces as Art or Wooden Sculptures. Louise is also in to photography in a big way doing weddings and parties but her love is finding that perfect picture be it a bird, a flower, a scene or even a picture of someone she knows.
